I always tell people that owning a Harley Davidson is not enough. You’ve got to accessorize it. There’s no two ways around it. If you just buy one and leave it as it came, everyone’s going to know that you are an inexperienced rider. These guys know everything about each make and model, and how it comes standard and what it includes “out of the box”.
So you basically have to look for two things in your Harley Davidson accessories: good functionality and superior looks. That’s what we’re going for here. It’ll take you knowing your own style of riding, and what would most add to your experience.
Saddlebag
In my opinion, every Harley needs a saddlebag. How else are you going to carry your stuff around with you? Typically, people will either get a leather saddlebag or one that matches the color of their motorcycle. This is obviously one hundred percent up to you. Just don’t think there aren’t many choices, because there certainly are. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that there are about a million Harley Davidson accessories out there on the market. Some are easy to find and some are rather obscure. By using the Internet people are able to locate literally whatever weird type of saddlebag they desire to put on their bike in order to transport anything that will fit along with them.
Backrest pad
A backrest pad is a great Harley accessory, especially for those of us older riders. But if you’re young, you might want to do what so many of us didn’t do and take care of your back now. Anyway, I digress.
Attaching a backrest pad onto your Harley Davidson will go along way to counteracting the negative effects of long rides, which is why I definitely recommend this as a necessary accessory for anyone who makes big trips on any sort of regular occasion. (And most of us do.) Now, your motorcycle doesn’t have to look like your grandmother’s wheelchair; you can get very cool looking seat pads, so this shouldn’t be an issue.
As always, I encourage everyone to think about what they want for their motorcycles. Pretty much whatever you dream up is already out there on the Harley Davidson accessories market, so I wouldn’t limit what I envisioned. Dream it up and then go find it. You will be looking and riding awesome sooner than you may think.
